Conditions for logical contextuality and nonlocality

چکیده

Contextuality and nonlocality are nonclassical properties exhibited by quantum statistics whose implications profoundly impact both the foundations applications of theory. In this paper we provide some insights into logical contextuality inequality-free proofs. The former can be understood as possibility version contextuality, while latter refers to proofs that not based on violations noncontextuality (or Bell) inequality. By ``possibilistic'' mean a description in terms possibilities for outcomes, which Boolean variables assuming value one when corresponding probability is strictly larger than zero otherwise. present work aims build bridge between these two concepts from what call possibilistic paradoxes, sets conditions occurrence implies nonlocality. As main result, demonstrate existence paradoxes necessary sufficient condition very important class scenarios. Finally, discuss interesting consequences arising completeness paradoxes.

Contextuality, Nonlocality and Counterfactual Arguments

Abstract In this paper, following an elementary line of thought which somewhat differs from the usual one, we prove once more that any deterministic theory predictively equivalent to quantum mechanics unavoidably exhibits a contextual character. The purpose of adopting this perspective is that of paving the way for a critical analysis of the use of counterfactual arguments when dealing with non...

Contextuality and Nonlocality in ‘No Signaling’ Theories

We define a family of ‘no signaling’ bipartite boxes with arbitrary inputs and binary outputs, and with a range of marginal probabilities. The defining correlations are motivated by the Klyachko version of the Kochen-Specker theorem, so we call these boxes Kochen-Specker-Klyachko boxes or, briefly, KS-boxes. The marginals cover a variety of cases, from those that can be simulated classically to...

Fundamental monogamy relation between contextuality and nonlocality.

We show that the no-disturbance principle imposes a tradeoff between locally contextual correlations violating the Klyachko-Can-Biniciogˇlu-Shumovski inequality and spatially separated correlations violating the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality. The violation of one inequality forbids the violation of the other. We also obtain the corresponding monogamy relation imposed by quantum theory f...

Proposal for revealing quantum nonlocality via local contextuality.

Two distant systems can exhibit quantum nonlocality even though the correlations between them admit a local model. This nonlocality can be revealed by testing extra correlations between successive measurements on one of the systems which do not admit a noncontextual model whatever the reduced state of this system is. This shows that quantum contextuality plays a fundamental role in quantum nonl...

Contextuality without nonlocality in a superconducting quantum system

Classical realism demands that system properties exist independently of whether they are measured, while noncontextuality demands that the results of measurements do not depend on what other measurements are performed in conjunction with them. The Bell-Kochen-Specker theorem states that noncontextual realism cannot reproduce the measurement statistics of a single three-level quantum system (qut...
